Over the weekend, I was able to act like a tourist and take lots of pictures of the town. I wasn't able to stay out for too long, thanks to the most ridiculous weather ever, but I still was able to get some of the highlights (more to come of course!). Speaking of the weather, it changes all of the time, varying in temperature, and type. For example yesterday in the early morning it was super cold, then it started to rain, then in the afternoon it became super hot, then it went cloudy and windy, cleared back up, then went back to blahhhhh. At least it keeps you guessing! It's a little hard to plan for a day though because if it's cold/rainy enough for a jacket, I almost never end up walking back with it on. Of course, whenever I don't wear it, it is ridiculously cold when I come back!
Myself and a couple of friends started out on our journey of the town and got off the tram a little bit before the busy downtown area.
This is the only tall building in Nantes, and I believe it's called the Tower of Brittany (le tour de Bretagne), with a picture of our tram making his get-away in the background.
And of course there would be a Hippopotamus Restaurant here! I've always seen them in France and have always wanted to go there! Maybe a fairwell France dinner would work :)
This is one of the Catholic churches here in Nantes, there is also a big cathedral, but we didn't go there today, but it will happen!
Waterspout! Too cool!
Soooo delicious! Some of the items in here were pretty pricey, but I'm going to have to try some. Just walking in there and you are overwhelmed with delicious smells of baked goods and chocolate, and chocolate, oh and did I mention chocolate!?
Mall where the chocolate shop is with some amazing architecture :)
Fresco depicting the entire history of Nantes
And of course, you cannot go anywhere in France without some reference to Charles de Gaulle
